A couple months ago, Nate Henry (formerly of the band Sherwood) contacted me about making a construction-paper stop-motion animated music video for one of the songs off his new band The Begging Sea‘s upcoming album. Tons of construction-paper (and coffee) later, here we are releasing the music video online. It premieres today on AbsolutePunk.net, and his album is open for pre-orders here.
To animate “Lightly Stepping,” I used colored construction paper, a light box (mainly for the starry night effect), my DSLR camera hooked-up to my Mac running the latest version of the program Dragonframe (the same software used to animate the stop-motion film ParaNorman). I also did a lot of touch-up work in Adobe After Effects CS6, and I even used an iPhone app called Frameographer for some shots!
Since I have been getting quite a few music video inquiries lately, I do need to add the disclaimer that I’m only considering projects with a budget. But if you do have a budget (and a good song), contact me and let’s see what we can do together.
