When I sat down directly across from artist Mat Kubo with a 1970’s typewriter at my fingertips, I had no idea what to expect next. I didn’t think the experience of “No Talking, Just Typing” would move me in any particular direction. But it did.
Mat’s performance installation piece gives the participant a platform to be heard. And with our abbreviated social media conversations, I think we’re all used to a kind of uncertainty as to whether the person we’re texting on the receiving end will even read our words, let alone consider our thoughts.
I found myself wanting to talk about ALL KINDS of topics I don’t usually discuss. It was a great experience.
